This song had exactly what her alter ego had, fierceness. Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) became the anthem to independent women, empowering them to be self-reliant and be able to do things on their own without a man to lean on. "I could care less what you think" attitude created a whole new perspective for women everywhere and "I need no permission" gave newly single women the power to be confident in who they are and strengthening their self-reliant attitude and wiping their dependence away.
It was never documented that Emerson danced around in high heels and in a black little leotard, but it was recorded that he did study self-reliance and the perspective of independence as a human with no one to rely on. I decided to pick Beyonce's Single Ladies because through out the song the theme of independence is marked. In the song she states, "cried my tears, three good years" that reason being that person in her relationship could not bring her peace and happiness, but now out of that relationship she is able to bring peace to herself and now she's "doing her own lil' thing."
Self-reliance and independence blend together just like Beyonce and her black stilettos. She explains through out the song her frustration of the emotional ups and downs this man puts her through. Now finally single and independent she puts her "hands up" and does what she wants, brings peace to herself and transforms into being self-reliant, just like Emerson said, "nothing can bring you peace but yourself."
